Academy Philosophy Ennis Town Football Academy Philosophy is based on the premise that the game consists of sequences of play between 2, 3 and sometimes 4 players, in various parts of the field, and that Team Success is determined by player performances in these exchanges. Ennis Town Football Academy believes that team formations and tactics are important but they cannot fully compensate for poor ball control, inaccurate passing or other technical weaknesses. Ultimately team organization is only as effective as the individual players in it. Ennis Town Football Academy ‘Golden Age’ of Learning: (4yrs to 8 yrs old) Young players should be exposed to the most qualified and expert coaches available. Along with charisma, coaches find they are able to improve, motivate and develop young players. Individual Skill improvement is the foundation that all other parts of the game can be built on and that is what we FOCUS on in the Academy. The view is that specific tactical teaching is not crucial during these early stages in that young players can learn most tactical situations naturally by playing small sided games. This 'Golden Age' is one where developing is more important than winning. In the Academy the coaches accept this. After seven years Ennis Town Football Academy is a realisation of this.
